Yes parents/guardians are welcome to join us on the trip. You MUST be an approved district volunteer. Please contact the district office to get the process started which involves proof of a clear TB test & fingerprinting/background check.
Also as a chaperone on the trip, you are committed to staying with the group & assisting with any supervision of students.
Can parents room with their students?
Yes parents can room with their students. Parents can register their student for a double room which is the same cost as the adult price. Students are originally priced 4 per room & Adults are 2 per room.
Can younger/older siblings join the trip?
No - this trip is open ONLY to Beaumont USD 8th graders & their parents/guardians
Can students choose their roommates?
Yes to a point - students will receive roommate request forms in February. I do my very best to accommodate requests & put students in rooms with at least 1 person they requested/know. We are travelling as a whole district unit so it is a very good opportunity for students to get to know new people too.
Students are booked 4 to a room - there are 2 beds. The rooms are same gender ONLY & students are NOT allowed to go into rooms of the opposite gender.
World Strides provides nighttime security guards (background checked) in the hotel hallways at night to monitor rooms. Students are in their rooms for roughly 8-9 hrs total due to our fully booked schedule. This room time should be dedicated to sleep & showers.
Can parents/students break off & leave the group?
No, this is a fully booked itinerary and there is no time allotted. By registering for the trip, you are committing you (if you are chaperoning) & your student to staying with the group at all times for the entire trip.
Are dietary restrictions accommodated?
Food Allergies such as peanuts, eggs, etc can be accommodated. The food places that are booked for us often offer several options to choose from such as buffet style etc.
Are electronic devices allowed?
Students are allowed to bring their cell phones. Computers and game systems are NOT allowed. Students are expected to be responsible & respectful with their usage & battery power while out & about during our day. There will be times students will need to put their phones away in order to pay attention to course guides etc. Some attractions such as the Capitol building request that all electronic devices be left on the bus.
